Great Books To Read For Your Personal Development

All the great writers on personal development have emphasised the need to continue personal development if you are to succeed. In fact it has been said your income will expand to the extent that your personal development does.

The easiest way to development is to access great business leaders, philosophers, thinkers and writers both from the past and current day. Jim Rohn and Chris Widener who co-authored the book, “12 Pillars of Success” (an excellent book that tells the story of a man’s self development through a novel), give a list of 20 books they believe everyone in business should read. I have added a few of my own. They suggest buying a book a week which at first I found pretty daunting, both in terms of cost and time.

However I have found quite a few of these books for free on various websites because the copyright has run out and on eBay. For example I bought 7 books of eBay for £30 (inc. post and package) that would have cost me over £70 on Amazon. I did have to buy one or two new but you see my point, personal development does not have to be expensive and is a serious investment in You Inc.

Ok so here goes the list of what myself and other consider to be must read books, the number one slot is interesting for me as I am not religious but I will still read it:

We are a not-for-profit educational organization, founded by Mortimer Adler and we have recently made an exciting discovery–three years after writing the wonderfully expanded third edition of How to Read a Book, Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren made a series of thirteen 14-minute videos on the art of reading. The videos were produced by Encyclopaedia Britannica. For reasons unknown, sometime after their original publication, these videos were lost and are now available.

Three hours with Mortimer Adler on one DVD.

For those of you who teach, this is great for the classroom.

I cannot over exaggerate how instructive these programs are–we are so sure that you will agree, if you are not completely satisfied, we will refund your donation.
